Atonement star
'wears grandma's gold necklace for luck'
British actress Keira
Knightley has admitted to carrying a selection of lucky gold charms with her, it
has been revealed.
The pouty star of the acclaimed film adaptation of Ian McEwan's celebrated novel
Atonement told the Mirror newspaper that she is a "great believer in luck" and
boasts a number of lucky charms.
Among these talismans is a charm bracelet made from her grandfather's watch
chain decorated with her grandmother's charms.
Knightley also revealed that she wears a gold necklace that once belonged to her
grandmother and was made in the gold market of Dubai in the 1960s.
"My one outstanding memory of her was this thing swinging in front of my face.
Now it is swinging from my neck instead," the actress told the newspaper.
Atonement tells that story of a doomed love between an upper-class girl and the
son of her housekeeper in the summer of 1935 and almost won the author a Booker
prize.
