Stolen gold
jewellery recovered
A hoard of stolen gold
jewellery has been recovered in premises in Peterborough following a police
raid, it has been revealed.
The Peterborough Evening Times reports that most of the items were taken from
the homes of Asian families.
The recovered gold booty includes bangles and bracelets, earrings, necklaces and
rings; the jewellery was discovered following raids on four premises.
"Some of the items are very distinctive and some would have been made
specifically for their owner. We are keen to make sure all these items are
returned to their rightful homes," detective constable Matt Ditcher told the
newspaper.
According to the Peterborough Evening Times, there are estimated to be about 100
pieces, a number of which are made from 24 carat gold.
Some items are believed to be items that have been passed down through
generations and given as brides' dowries.
In related news, a stolen gold dress worth AUS $500,000 (£209,000) was recently
returned to its owner in Australia.
